This incredibly quaint manufactured home in Carson, CA was built and installed by BMH, Inc. The homeowner requested a garden where she could find a therapeutic refuge after a long, demanding week at work. Located on a corner lot, privacy and shade were important factors as well. Several young trees were planted that will not only provide shade from the intense afternoon sun, but also provide color, fragrance and edible fruit. Deciduous and semi-evergreen Crape Myrtle and Jacaranda, respectively, will provide summer shade, striking color, and allow winter sunlight through the entry windows. Citrus, Santa Rosa Plum and Hass Avocado were selected for edible trees. Fragrant flowers of Magnolia 'Little Gem', Spanish Jasmine, Salvia leucantha and Mystery Gardenia fill the air with a mesmerizing perfume in the afternoon heat. Raised vegetable planters provide easy access to a variety of organic vegetables and a hand-made cedar and redwood garden workbench provides storage and work space. A combination of low-flow rotating sprinkler nozzles and dripline were utilized to conserve water.
